It was obvious that Matt Barnes’ back was bothering him on Sunday afternoon. He never really looked “right” and only played 15 minutes. He finished with 2 points on 1-of-4 shooting, grabbed 3 rebounds and had 1 assist. Barnes offered a couple of comments about his injured back after the game Sunday.

“I didn’t get a chance to to get it real lose tonight,” Barnes told reporters following the game.

Barnes was lifted in favor of Mickael Pietrus and eventually J.J. Redick.

“But it’s no excuse. I didn’t get it done tonight. Coach had to go with someone who was ready. I am going to continue to get treatment and I’ll be ready for Game 2.”

Barnes’ injury is even more incentive to the Magic go with a lineup consisting of both J.J. Redick and Vince Carter.

i like jj reddick guarding ray allen, especially if matt barnes cant move well because of his back spasms. plus reddick is more of an offensive threat.

vince played well offensively but he’s gotta be better against pierce defensively. Game 2 is obviously must win, but it’s also gonna be important HOW they win.

I think you’re right derek. J.J. did a good job on Ray last year. Plus, they really needed his offense. He was doing a good job of getting to the basket.

I usually don’t like having J.J. and Vince in together because I don’t like Carter at 3, but it was really working in the 4th quarter today.
