Although it was just briefly mentioned Thursday night, Chris Broussard of ESPN.com reported the Magic were still actively pursuing Carmelo Anthony.

With teams — Dallas and Orlando, in addition to New York and New Jersey — trying to put together trade packages for Carmelo Anthony, Portland’s phone is ringing off the hook. The Blazers have several assets that would be desirable in a three- or four-team deal. Wonder if Miller could be one of them.

HtD has said all along that it is unlikely the Magic have the pieces to pull off the deal and unless Denver saw something in someone the rest of haven’t or are prepared to ask for several first round picks that would be very late in the first round (because of how many games a Howard/Anthony tandem would win, I don’t see what’s changed.

Getting Carmelo in a Magic uniform would certainly be a wise move. He is an offensive powerhouse and extremely quick for his size as evidenced last week as he shredded all the Magic players guarding him. Otis Smith, if you are reading this, I hope you are trying to make this happen. If you really want a championship…that would do it. Go take a ride on your Gold Wing and figure it out. It will make up for trading one of my favorite players…Gortat!
