The injuries have piled up for the Orlando Magic. Over the last three weeks, Ryan Anderson, Glen Davis, Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson, Quentin Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu have missed games due to injury.
Anderson, Nelson and Richardson have been back in the lineup for a few games and all appear to be healthy. The same can be said for the rest.
Glen Davis – Davis injured his knee in Orlando’s 100-84 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers Sunday and was limited to just seven minutes in the game. He missed Monday’s win over the Philadelphia 76ers before returning Wednesday night for Orlando’s game against the Boston Celtics. Magic Head Coach Stan Van Gundy said they were going to play close attention to Davis and remove him if he looked hobbled by the injury. That wasn’t necessary. Davis had one of the best games of his Magic career, scoring 27 points on 12-of-16 shooting. He also grabbed seven rebounds and recorded three steals in 35 minutes.
Dwight Howard - After initially being diagnosed with back spasms, we found out Howard actually has a herniated disc in his back. Howard has now missed six straight games and eight out of his last 10. Clearly the Magic are in a lot of trouble without Howard. Their defense has nearly disappeared. When asked about Howard Wednesday, Magic General Manager Otis Smith didn’t have much of an update, simply saying “It’s still rest and rehab. He was moving pretty good (Tues) and (Wed), so we’ll see how he is after his rehab”
Hedo Turkoglu - Turkoglu has now missed seven straight games after being inadvertently hit in the face by Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony on April 5. On Wednesday, John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com reported Turkoglu could play Wednesday to get ready for the postseason – “He can start doing some cardio things, so we’ll start doing that soon.” Magic hope he can play by next Wed.
