The Line: Indiana – 3.0 (183.5)
Jason Richardson said his jammed left thumb is “good to go” for game 3.
The Magic have to do something about their slow starts – they have fallen behind by double digits in the first quarter and have been dominated in the third quarter in each of the first two games. It seems simple, but the Magic must play with better energy. Both Head Coach Stan Van Gundy and Glen Davis said as much after Monday’s loss. Van Gundy was very upset with Orlando’s starters and with good reason.
The Magic have to do something about David West. Ryan Anderson simply can’t handle him on his own. Plus, Anderson has really struggled offensively, averaging just 8.0 points per game and is shooting 31.3% so far in the series. Offensively, the Magic attempted to run some plays to get Anderson better looks in game 2 – and it worked in the first quarter – he had three good looks at three-pointers and hit one. However, Anderson still isn’t taking enough shots and that needs to change. Defensively, the Magic may have to start helping more on West and hope they can quickly close out on Indiana’s shooters.
