The Houston Rockets have waived Luis Scolausing the amnesty clause, clearing over $9 million in salary for next season.
Adrian Wojnarowski was the first to report this news.
Scola averaged 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last season. Clearly, you don’t just release a player of Scola’s caliber without a plan. The Rockets do have a plan and they’ve made it clear – they’re after Dwight Howard. This move gives them the ability to absorb nearly all of Orlando’s bad contract. A deal could involve the Rockets taking back Hedo Turkoglu, Jason Richardson, Chris Duhon and Quentin Richardson.
The Magic would surely take back Kevin Martin, Toronto’s 2013 top-3 protected, another Houston pick and either one of two of their three rookies (Jeremy Lamb, Terrence Jones and Royce White).
