The Orlando Magic have struggled on the wing for quite some time and with incumbent starters Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu coming off terrible seasons, they may need that upgrade more than ever.
According to Eric Pincus of Hoops World, the Magic have shown interest in New Orleans Hornets guard Marco Belinelli.
According to Pincus, the Clippers, at the urging of superstar point guard Chris Paul, made a play for Belinelli, but couldn’t get the Hornets to take back Ryan Gomes in a sign and trade. Now that the Clippers are going to acquire former Magic forward Grant Hill, Belinelli will have to find a different destination. Pincus reports the “Chicago Bulls, Orlando Magic, Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks have interest.”
With Dwight Howard‘s situation unresolved, it’s hard to see the Magic make much of a play for Belinelli.
Belinelli averaged 11.8 points per game on 41.7% shooting from the field. He shot 37.7% from beyond the arc last season and has shot 39.3% from downtown over the course of his five year career. Belinelli, who’s originally from Pers, Italy, is only 26 years old.
