Dwight Howard Update: Magic Hopeful They Can Deal Him In Early August

The Dwight Howard saga looks like it may finally come to an end in a couple of weeks.

According the Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated, the Magic “are hopeful that they can pull the trigger on a deal by early August,” but Amick didn’t know which of the many rumored deals they could complete.

Although a three way trade seems between the Magic, Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers has been the rumor, we continue to hear the Magic like the potential return the Rockets could give them and expect this deal to involve the Rockets in some way (with the Rockets either getting Howard or Andrew Bynum in a three-way involving the Lakers).

A deal involving the Rockets makes a lot more sense, considering Cleveland won’t make Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving available and doesn’t seem willing to part with either Tristan Thompson or Dion Waiters, the last two fourth overall picks.

Amick also has an update on the coaching search, saying he’d be “surprised at this point if the job doesn’t ultimately go to San Antonio’s Jacque Vaughn,” which seems to flow with what many others in the media are reporting.

I’m a Rockets fan and if Morey do what I think he’s about to the do, the Rockets fans will never forgive him! The only possible reason why Rob would wait til early August to deal Howard is because that’s around the same time our recent draftees can be traded after they have since signed their contracts.

The only draftees that haven’t signed a contract is Royce White. If the original deal was K.Martin, C.Parsons, P.Patterson, M.Morris and Royce White along with 5 draft picks (included Toronto’ top 3 protected) and cap relief of J.Rich, Duhon and G.Davis contracts, then obviously Rob Hennigan up the offer and want Jeremy Lamb and Terrence Jones included.

That’s the only reason why he rather wait til August, and Rockets fans aren’t stupid to think otherwise. Morey, dont do it! It’s gonna cost you! The fans will not be pleased with you letting Lamb and T.Jones go, plus Orlando getting K.Martin and Chandler Parsons, Royce White, Patterson and Morris!!! Are you crazy!!!?

Stick with the original deal. It’s fair and good. nonsense trading for Howard who said he will not sign an extension and will definitely explore his free-agency after the 2012-13 season. We waited too long to get an offseason haul like that and we want to keep Jeremy Lamb and Terrence Jones. They have huge upside and possible for future. The chemistry is good between him and Lamb and Motiejunas. Don’t do it, Morey!!!

I would think they’d want/need Lamb most of the three first rounders.
