The Orlando Magic could add another camp invitee at point guard. With Ish Smithalready in the fold, the Magic are said to have interest in Josh Akognon, who played at both Cal-State Fullerton and Washington State.
David Pick, who covers European basketball said he “extremely disappointed Euroleague teams” let Akognon “slip away” and reported “Magic, Mavs, Spurs, Bucks & Pacers in mix w/ vet-camp invites.”
In Akognon’s final collegiate season (2008-09), he averaged 23.9 points per game, but shot just 40.1% from the field.
Akognon has sicne played in the Estonian League, the Baltic League and most recently for the DongGuan Leopards in the Chinese Basketball Association.
He spent 2012 playing for the Canton Charge in the D-League and was with the Sacramento Kings in the Las Vegas Summer League last month.
Jameer Nelson is currently the only point guard on Orlando’s 15-man roster.
