According to the Associated Press, Orlando Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn has added James Borrego to his coaching staff.
The hiring should come as no surprise because Magic big man Gustavo Ayon tweeted about the hiring a while back. Borrego was an assistant in New Orleans last season and coached Ayon in his rookie year. The two became close because Borrego is fluent in Spanish.
After playing at San Diego for three seasons, Borrego became an assistant at his alma mater in 2001. After spending two seasons there, Borrego joined the San Antonio Spurs for the next seven seasons and was a part of NBA championship teams (in 2005 and 2007).
