When I asked Orlando Magic guard Arron Afflalo about new head coach Jacque Vaughn‘s offense, he didn’t have an answer because he hadn’t spoken with Vaughn yet.
Since he hasn’t been a head coach before and has only been an assistant since 2010, no one is quite sure exactly what Vaughn’s offense will look like.
Sebastian Pruiti discussed the three-point shooting.
The big difference is where these shots will come from. In terms of 3-point locations, Van Gundy’s Magic didn’t discriminate. If they were open (and even times they weren’t), they would let it fly, no matter where they were standing. This was important, because the offense had to make defenses pay by doubling Howard, and to do that they needed to shoot these open shots.
Over at Grantland, Pruiti breaks down what the offense may look like.
