NBA Trade Rumors—Report: Milwaukee Bucks Offer Mbah a Moute, Pick for J.J. Redick

Ken Berger reported via Twitter that Orlando Magic GM Rob Hennigan offered the Milwaukee Bucks 2-guard J.J. Redick for Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and a first-round pick.

The word, though, is that the Bucks will only trade for Redick if they are able to move Monta Ellis. Redick’s $6.75 million contract comes off the books at year’s end, but the Bucks want to retain Redick past this season.

The attraction to Mbah a Moute is that he is a versatile forward who has lockdown defender potential on both small forwards and power forwards. In an Eastern Conference which features LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Paul Pierce, his value is very high. He’s improved his offensive game, but his primary value is in the defense he brings to the table.

The first-round pick has its attraction for obvious reasons. Hennigan will look to stockpile as many firsts as he can in these early stages of a franchise overhaul. The more young talent on rookie contracts that he can manage to accrue, the better chances that some of the featured players stick around in Orlando.

Redick is averaging career highs in points (15.2 per game) and assists (4.4 per game), and the Duke product ranks No. 7 among NBA shooting guards in Player Efficiency Ratings. His value is at an all time high, and Hennigan feels that obtaining Mbah a Moute and a first rounder would be adequate compensation for Redick.
