J.J. Redick said he was prepared for this to happen. That doesn’t make it any less surprising when suspicion gives fruit to reality. Redick was dealt to the Milwaukee Bucks in a move motivated by financial reasons more than anything.

Redick told the Orlando Sentinel :

There was certainly an initial shock…The most difficult part was definitely saying bye to everybody, people that I’ve spent a lot of time with over the last seven years and built relationship with and built friendships with. That was difficult.

Redick will take his talents to Brew Town, but may not be prepared to deal with the Wisconsin winter. Redick has spent his entire career in central Florida, where it’s been in the mid-80s for most of the winter. If you can call it winter.

There is a certain comfort in a city after spending over half a decade playing for them. Redick suspected that this would come, a time when Dwight Howard’s departure made the Magic an irrelevant team in the Eastern Conference, a time when a valuable role player like Redick didn’t figure into the team’s long term plans.
