The Magic earned their first preseason victory Monday night defeating the Dallas Mavericks 102-94. Without any of the veterans playing, Orlando got off to a quick start on the road in Dallas jumping out to a 30-10 leading a little over 10 minutes into the first quarter. It was the best the Magic would look all night with Oladipo, Harkless and Tobias Harris all making a couple of shots early on in the 1st quarter.
The Dallas Mavericks worked their way back into the game in the 2nd quarter in part to sloppy play from the Magic (14 turnovers in the first half.), cutting the lead down to four (52-48) at half. Dallas exploited the Nik Vucevic-Dirk Nowitzki matchup throughout the first two quarters. Dirk basically got whatever he wanted from mid range, and Vucevic struggled to when Dallas used Nowitzki in pick-and-pop situations.
After the break, Dallas quickly jumped out to a lead and took a 73-72 lead going into the 4th. However, as both Dallas and Orlando worked their rotation deeper into their bench, the Magic went on an 11-0 run and pull away from the Mavs for good.

For the most part, the Magic looked sloppy, 28 (twenty-eight!) turnovers. Orlando won’t be winning any regular season games with 28 turnovers.
Victor Oladipo (12 points, 11 rebounds) earned a preseason double-double. He struggled with his on-ball decision making at times, but for the most part, Oladipo was most impressive player in an Orlando uniform.
Maurice Harkless’s shot continues to improve. He led the team in scoring (16 points)
Solomon Jones (11 points) was also impressive, hitting a couple of jumpers near the baseline.
E’ Twaun Moore added 13 points and the team went +14 (team-high) during his 23 minutes
Mickell Gladness (6 blocks +13 diff) had his best game of the preseason, and looked like the only viable presence at the rim for Orlando Monday night.
Kyle O’ Quinn really struggled (-13 diff). Something to keep in mind: O’Quinn’s contract isn’t guaranteed this season. If there was to be a surprise roster cut this season, it could be him.
It could mean nothing, but Romero Osby and Andrew Nicholson didn’t play in the fist half.
