Grantland ranks Magic 27th in watchability

Bill Simmons and Zach Lowe of Grantland ranked the Orlando Magic the 27th most watchable team in their Annual NBA League Pass Rankings, only beating out the Raptors, 76ers and Suns.

Simmons and Lowe measured the watchability of each team on NBA’s League Pass by using five different categories. Playoff relevance, style of play, the general league pass experience (broadcasting, uniforms, arena, etc.), individual player appeal, and -in typical Bill Simmons style- personality/unintentional comedy/ irrational affection. Both guys rated each team on a 1-100 scale and averaged their scores.

Orlando scored a 39 out of 100, which is pretty sad. But despite the low rating, both Simmons and Lowe actually said some positive things to say about the 2013/14 Orlando Magic.

Simmons acknowledges that “it’s hard NOT to enjoy Tobias Harris and Victor Oladipo.” He later mentions that they might have ranked Orlando too low.

Lowe added that he might me most excited to watch the development of Moe Harkless. However, he did dock the Magic some watchability points for getting rid of TV analyst Matt Goukas. Fair enough.

The Grantland duo ranked the Warriors, Bulls and Clippers the first, second, and third most watchable teams.

What do you think about Orlando’s ranking? Too high? Too low? About right?
