Orlando Magic: Can Victor Oladipo keep up at point guard?

After a quick start to the season, we’re now beginning to see Victor Oladipo struggle to play point guard. The Mavericks forced him into 9 turnovers on Saturday and Oladipo’s offensive rating is a rather paltry 81, worse – by a long shot – than any other Magic player who’s played at least 100 minutes.

Victor Oladipo’s athleticism paired with the transition from college shooting guard to NBA point guard caused some to draw comparisons to Russell Westbrook at the beginning of the season. Statistically, Oladipo’s first 10 games stuck up similar to Westbrook’s first 10 during the 2008/09 season — his rookie year.

Oladipo — 255 minutes, 117 points, 33 assists, 37 rebounds, 40 turnovers, 38.9 percent shooting

Westbrook — 235 minutes, 118 points, 31 assists, 32 rebounds, 25 turnovers, 30.8 percent shooting

The forty turnovers – averaging 4 a game – are what stands out most for Oladipo. However, Westbrook finished his rookie year averaging 3.7 turnovers so maybe Oladipo’s turnover rate isn’t so alarming.

What do you think? Could Victor Oladipo one day reach Westbrook’s all-star level?
