Shut out of the All-Star Game, Arron Afflalo will look to get his revenge in the three point Shooting Contest. Joining him in New Orleans will be rookie Victor Oladipo, who will be competing in the All-Star Skills Challenge, in addition to the Rookie-Sophomore Game. You can watch the entire NBA All-Star Weekend February 14-16th on TNT.
Arron Afflalo was one of the biggest All-Star snubs when he was left off the Eastern Conference squad in favor of the Brooklyn Net’s Joe Johnson, but he’s an easy choice for the three point shooting contest. He’s hit 90 three pointers this year on 42.7% three point shooting. According to NBA.com, the other contestants will be Stephen Curry, Joe Johnson, Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard, Bradly Beal, and Marco Bellinelli. The match-up with Johnson could provide particularly sweet revenge for Afflalo.
Victor Oladipo wanted to compete in the Slam Dunk Contest but he is happy to be representing the Orlando Magic in New Orleans. He was an easy choice for the Rookie-Sophomore Game but his selection for the All Stars Skill Challenge is much more surprising. He definitely possesses elite athleticism but his ball skills leave something to be desired. His shooting, passing, and dribbling are all below average and he is in danger of coming in last place. Even still, the weekend will be a valuable experience under the bright lights for the Magic rookie.
