The Orlando Magic’s young guns earned this 103-102 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, punctuated by the Tobias Harris Dunk winner as time expired. The last play of the game was a thing of beauty.
Kevin Durant was forced into an off balance jumper by Moe Harkless and Victor Oladipo cajoled a wild rebound. Oladipo then led the break and found Moe Harkless underneath the basket with time winding down. Out of position, Harkless dumped it back to a trailing Tobias Harris who flushed home a game winning slam as time expired. With authority! Watch the madness below:
The key to this play was effort. Oladipo went hound-dogging for the rebound, Harkless ran the floor like a gazelle, and Harris trailed the play even though he looked out of it at first. Without a doubt the most important win for the Magic this season.
The young guns weren’t just a last minute flash in the pan. They picked up on rare off-nights from Nikola Vucevic and Arron Afflalo (combined the veterans only shot 30% from the field). Oladipo had 14, Harris dropped 18, and Harkless helped hold Kevin Durant below 50% shooting, an equally impressive feet.
Believe it or not, this was the Magic’s fourth win in a row at home, and signs are looking up now that the team is healthy for the first time. The question now is if this team is too good, given their desires for a high draft pick. The Magic will be hard pressed to make it five in a row when they face off against the Indiana Pacers this Sunday.
