Whenever you think of the future of the Orlando Magic, you obviously think of players like Tobias Harris, Maurice Harkless, and Victor Oladipo. Even though they are potential franchise changing players, they really don’t help the overall production as much as Kyle O’Quinn does right now. Kyle has brought the play and energy every game that you would think he was a 10 year veteran already. In the month of March, Kyle has averaged 9.3 points, 2.0 blocks, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals.
Now, these may seem like small numbers compared to the other players on the roster, but stats don’t show everything. Kyle has been able to step up when he is needed most in every situation. He has shown us that he can play starter’s minutes and be able to contribute.
What has made Kyle the most intriguing is his chemistry with Maurice Harkless and Nikola Vučević. With Maurice and Kyle being on the floor together, they have made huge strides and shown just a taste of what the future holds. Kyle is also a great passer. His backdoor passes to cutting guards is the most beautiful play to make. He has been so good at it that opposing players sag off to be able to stop it. Kyle has become so deadly at not only passing, but his shooting is extremely consistent. He can knock down a 15 foot jump shot with ease and causes teams to guard him leaving Vučević with plenty of room to score.
I would easily take Kyle O’Quinn as one of the most improved players on this roster. He has made this upcoming draft more interesting due to his recent success. Will he keep this up and change who we select in the draft? Or will he die down and be forgotten after draft time. For now, he is a top 5 player on the Orlando Magic and I see him getting even better with experience.
What do you think? Does Kyle O’Quinn deserve the most improved player award for this season? Does he keep up this recent success or will he be forgotten and pave the way for other players? Leave a comment down below and tell us what you think.
