Victor Oladipo named to NBA All-Rookie First Team

After finishing second in Rookie of the Year voting to Philadelphia 76ers guard Michael Carter-Williams, Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo once again follows the lanky point guard, this time on the NBA All-Rookie First Team. Carter-Williams was the only player to be selected to the team unanimously, with Oladipo coming one vote shy. Joining the two guards on the first team are Utah’s Trey Burke, New York’s Tim Hardaway Jr and Brooklyn’s Mason Plumlee.

Oladipo, the second pick in last years draft, enjoyed himself a very solid rookie season. While trying to learn a new position, point guard, Oladipo averaged 13.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Oladipo ranked highly amongst his peers in most statistical categories, finishing second in scoring and steals, third in assists and minutes played, sixth in free throw percentage, tied for seventh in three-point field goal percentage, eighth in field goal percentage and tied for eighth in rebounding.

The Indiana product notched one triple-double, and garnered Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month in both December and February. Oladipo also became just the second Magic rookie to ever to finish the season with 1000+ points, 300+ assists and 100+ steals, with Penny Hardaway being the other.
