Orlando Sentinel scribe Josh Robbins followed up Spears report by saying that the Magic will bring Siva in on a non-guaranteed deal for training camp and then send him to their new NBA Developmental League team, the Erie BayHawks. Robbins also reports that Siva will get a small guarantee, that will supplant his D-League salary.
Siva, 23, was the 56th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. Last season with the Pistons, Siva appeared in 24 games, averaging 2.3 points and 1.4 assists per game in 9.3 minutes per contest. Siva played for the Pistons in the Orlando Summer League this month, averaging 10 points, 5 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game in three contested prior to spraining an ankle.
With the Magic roster sitting at 15 players already, it could be hard for Siva to break onto the roster. All but one player — big man Dewayne Dedmon — have guaranteed deals for the coming season, and it would seem much more advantageous for the Magic to keep Dedmon in the long run to provide front court depth.
