Orlando Magic Schedule Highlights


During a one hour TV special on NBA TV on Wednesday, the NBA officially announced it’s schedule for the upcoming 2014-15 season. While a handful of games leaked earlier in the day, no games for the Orlando Magic’s schedule were released prior to the 6 PM scheduled release. 

For their 82 game regular season, the Magic will open up on October 28th against the New Orleans Pelicans in New Orlenas. Their first home game will be  October 30th against the Washington Wizards, with their season finale falling on April 15th against the Brooklyn Nets. The home finale will be on April 11th against the New York Knicks. 

The Magic will play in 17 back-to-backs during the season, with the first one coming November 4-5th against the Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers. Their longest road trip will be 12 days, covering six games. Their longest home stand of the season will be 13 days, with the Magic hosting five opponents at Amway Center. 

Long time Magic point guard Jameer Nelson will return to his old stomping grounds during the preseason on October 24th, and on January 31st during the regular season. The cities first look at top picks Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker will come on November 7th and November 14th respectively, when the Minnesota Timberwolves and Milwaukee Bucks come to town. 

Of the other notable games, the new look Cleveland Cavaliers come to Orlando on December 26th, while the re-tooled Chicago Bulls come to Orlando February 8th. The Magic will host their division rival Washington Wizards on October 30th and December 10th, Atlanta Hawks on December 13th and March 25th, in-state Miami Heat on November 22nd and February 25th and the newly named Charlotte Hornets on January 3rd and March 1st. 

The NBA is also experimenting with a longer All-Star break, with every team getting a minimum of eight days off between games, with some teams getting more than eight days off.
