Orlando Magic Today: Wacky Wednesday

Good morning, Magic fans and loyal readers! It’s hump day, so you know, the weekend is inching ever so much closer. Let’s get your day started off on the right foot with some highlights from the Magic and around the league, shall we?

To begin, we head over to OrlandoPinstripedPost where Evan Dunlap bids farewell to Tyler Lashbrook. Tyler, who is one of the smartest basketball people I’ve had a chance to meet and get to know, accepted a position with the Philadelphia 76ers in an internship role in their front office. It’s something that I know he’s been working towards, and it couldn’t have happened to a better person. From all of us here at Presto in the Paint, we want to say congrats and good luck on this journey, we know you’re going to kill it.

Over at HoopsHabit, Luke Duffy wonders if we might expect too much from Victor Oladipo. Oladipo, who is heading into his second season in the league, is expected to take a much bigger role with the team this year, as a leader and on the court. Could it be too much to ask of a guy who might be best set as a secondary star on a championship team?

He does a little bit of everything, and scores the ball in a variety of ways. Defensively he is not outstanding, but he pulls his weight and uses his athleticism to at least make an effort on the court when guarding his opponent.

The fans love him, and would be more than happy to see him be “the guy” as the years tick over. He’s got the right character and the exciting kind of ability fans like to be the face of a franchise.

But wouldn’t this guy be better suited as being the second or third option on a team hoping to go deep into the playoffs? We’re getting ahead of ourselves because it is all right for Oladipo to be the go to guy right now, this is a growing team and it can only be good for him as a player as well.

Finally, Inside The Hall makes note of Oladipo working out with Miami Heat star Dwayne Wade. Might not be a bad thing for the kid, huh?

That does it for today’s Orlando Magic Today! Make sure to check back with us a little later as we look at what the Magic should do regarding Nikola Vucevic‘s contract situation. And, as always, come back everyday for the best Magic coverage out there!
