Good morning, everyone. Hope you all had great Tuesdays and are ready for Hump Day. College football technically starts tonight, but we have some basketball to look at first. Here’s what’s going on with the Orlando Magic today.
First, we go to the Magic’s website where John Denton talked to Aaron Gordon’s college coach, Sean Miller. Miller raves about Gordon, and even says he could be a “once-in-a-lifetime” player. Gordon has a lot of work to do, but seems to be the kind of player who will not let anything get him down, and with the great work ethic he has shown, could indeed become a great player one day.
“Aaron is a once-in-a-lifetime player and it’s not just because of what he does on the court. It’s his work ethic, his demeanor and his approach to the game,’’ Miller said. “Aaron talks a lot about becoming a better player and he’s one of those players who is willing to put in the work.
“He has a motor in games and in practice and in the gym by himself – it’s a drive that I haven’t seen in many players at all,’’ Miller continued. “When you see the kind of drive that he has, it’s usually in the underdog or the walk-on who is trying to earn a scholarship or someone who is just trying to perfect their skill level because they aren’t talented enough. Aaron is unique because he has the ingredients of a world class athlete, but also a desire and a mindset that you usually only see in an underdog. That’s the combination that makes him so special. It makes him a great teammate and his coaching staff warms up to him. There’s a winning culture that follows him with how he handles himself every day.’’
Next, we stop here at Presto in the Paint for the news that the team finally hired a coach for the Erie BayHawks. It’s been something that the team has been working on all summer, and it finally all came to fruition on Tuesday morning. It sounds like they got the guy that they wanted, and got someone who is seasoned as a coach, which will undoubtedly be great for the young team the BayHawks will most likely have.
Our final stop is at OrlandoMagicDaily where Philip looks at the entertainment complex the Magic plan to build around the arena and when construction will begin. This is a very exciting thing for downtown as they continue to improve the area around the arena.
That does it for Orlando Magic Today on this lovely Wednesday. Be sure to check back with us all week as we continue giving you up to the minute news, analysis and opinions on the Magic.
