Facebook has announced a bunch of new and upcoming features for Messenger, arguably chief among them being the ability to share bots directly within group chats via 'Chat Extensions.' Several brands are already available under this feature, including Spotify, which enables users to share a particular thing (a song, in Spotify's case) with an entire chat stream of people.
A user inside Messenger will now be able to open up the "drawer" of different bots, tap on Spotify's bot, search for an artist, and tap to share a song inside an existing chat, all without leaving that chat.
Multiple people can now add a bot to a conversation.
Apple has not shared details on how its chat extension will work, but Spotify published a blog post detailing the Spotify chat extension, which will undoubtedly share similarities with Apple Music.
