Texas tests Trump administration over abortion providers

The version passed by the House eliminated Medicaid reimbursements to Planned Parenthood, who receives 43 percent of its budget from federal funding.

Yvonne Gutierrez, executive director for Planned Parenthood Texas Votes, called the decline in state services to Texas women "troubling", and said Texas is providing a crucial test for the Trump administration. The president recently appointed anti-abortion proponents to oversee the nation's family planning programs.

Mansanares emphasized that Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains will continue to work with reproductive rights advocates in the state, including NARAL Pro-Choice Wyoming and the Women for Women abortion fund. And while you might be able to imagine it, it's a little different when you actually see it.

Before Joss Whedon tackles DC's Batgirl movie, the filmmaker first stands with Planned Parenthood.

"What world do you want?" it says at the end of the short. The video begins by revealing the stories of multiple women and girls who were unable to access Planned Parenthood's services. "STD testing, birth control, cancer screenings... how can these be at risk?" said Writer/Director Joss Whedon.

The Susan B Anthony List, a pro-life advocacy group, imagined their own world without Planned Parenthood in a series of tweets aimed at Whedon.

Now, amid dropping participation in its programs, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission is preparing to submit an application to get that money back - for a state-run, Planned Parenthood-free women's health program now called Healthy Texas Women.

Whedon's piece rewinds to the exact moment that sparked these situations: when Planned Parenthood closed. It's not just inhumane - it's inhuman.

"Women's health care is so much just about women's humanity", Whedon told BuzzFeed.

Then the video restarts, showing all three women going into an open Planned Parenthood. We see the women's lives both if they had access to Planned Parenthood servces and if they did not. The Avengers filmmaker released "UNLOCKED", an emotionally charged short film he directed that dramatizes the realities of life without the women's health organization.

On April 30, 2017, U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-Wis.) provoked an outcry at a town hall meeting in Neenah when pressed to explain his support for defunding the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. And because of an unplanned pregnancy, the young woman does not attend college after being offered a full scholarship. And while these scenarios might seem like the worst case, they aren't implausible.

In the Star-Tribune interview, Mansanares said that decision to close the clinic was not directly related to politics. In the storyline, one woman can not procure birth control, and ends up pregnant, having to forgo a full college scholarship.

"A strong Healthy Texas Women program should include Planned Parenthood, and I'm asking the state to choose the health of Texas women, which it has a duty to protect, over scoring political points", Murrillo said.
