Katy Perry is first person with 100M followers on Twitter

She has been on Twitter for eight years now, with over 8,500 tweets. At that point, she reached 94.5 million followers.

She may be pleased to have nearly 15 million more fans than Swift and, for the time being at least, more than three times the number of reality TV star turned United States president Donald Trump. In a TwitterAudit report - the legitimacy of which has recently been questioned - pulled last month, Digital Spy found that 67% of Katy Perry's Twitter followers are reportedly fake.

Of course, many of those followers are the same people using different accounts.

"A large number of Twitter users are bots". From her first Tweets to 100M - this is her Twitter story.

"Twitter has verified that Katy does indeed have 100 million followers".

According to data from Twitter, Perry's most retweeted tweet was an unfortunate joke about suicide in 2012.

The Twitter record isn't Katy's only social media record, either. She reached 50 million followers by 2012. "Witness: The Tour" will be your opportunity to see the Queen of Purposeful Pop on what is bound to be a show full of bright lights, insane costumes and chock-a-block with good music.

"It was truly remarkable to watch Katy share herself with the world and we admire her openness, honesty, and engagement with fans on YouTube throughout the entire 96-hour live stream".

The principal rivals among the Twitter users are powerful Katy's colleagues like Justin Bieber (under 97 million followers) and Taylor Swift who has 85 million of Twitter admirers.
