Malignaggi: Berto Canceled McGregor Spar After How They Did Me

The former IBF Junior Welterweight and WBA Welterweight champion was drafted in to help McGregor train for his upcoming bout in Las Vegas on 26th August, but their relationship deteriorated after pictures surfaced online of McGregor apparently putting Malignaggi on the canvas.

Fight fans attending the much-hyped boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and mixed martial artist Conor McGregor will have a chance to rub shoulders with the stars in Las Vegas - but it won't come cheap.

But McGregor, a two-weight UFC champion who has previously claimed he would beat Mayweather inside four rounds, remains confident he can shock the world.

Conor McGregor has always been adamant that his fight with Floyd Mayweather will hinge on whichever fighter takes the first step back.

"He was knocked down, the ropes kept him up multiple times, he was badly concussed".

There remained some question as to how Malignaggi got to his back in the photo posted by McGregor's camp, until Dana White posted video of the knockdown Thursday night (Video at top).

"Sparring partners who were [staying] in the house with him were anxious about him". The sparring partners that were in the house with him were anxious that night, saying he's incoherent, he's stumbling.

"It shows his character in my opinion", McGregor said, per MMAMania's Dan Hiergesell.

White attended a sparring session that took place August 1 at the UFC's Performance Institute in Las Vegas where McGregor has been preparing for Mayweather.

"Everybody already knew what happened with Van Heerden, now he's doing the same with me too".

Let's see who takes the first back step.

"And then the poor guy that's in there with me has to deal with it, and then he's unconscious and it's on to the next one".

It was three months ago when Mark Kriegel, an accomplished boxing author whose works include "The Good Son: The Life of Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini", predicted to me how the buildup to a Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor fight would eventually turn.

"My confidence comes from my work ethic", McGregor said.
