Formula One: Daniel Ricciardo leads Red Bull 1-2 in Singapore

Though one of just four drivers to have won the race since it joined the calendar in 2008, Hamilton has only won in Singapore twice. Saturdays they're very strong, which obviously has its contribution to Sundays, it's not a big secret but I think we are strong, we don't need to hide and there's plenty of positives.

"I still believe there are certain characteristics of the tracks that suit the vehicle or not, and you can see this year, the slow, twisty circuits have rather suited Red Bull and Ferrari".

Bottas payback for Mercedes in Singapore?

Red Bull lived up to that billing, with Daniel Ricciardo leading the way in both practice sessions, but Ferrari struggled and Raikkonen was the fastest of its two drivers in FP2 in ninth, 1.983 seconds off the pace.

While the W08's strengths are best showcased at high speed, either in long, sweeping corners or a straight line, Ferrari's SF70-H comes to the fore in twistier, slower sections of track.

"Both have shown strong performance on low-speed circuits demanding maximum downforce, and we have found life more hard at those places in 2017".

'Sometimes, characteristics like this are simply in the DNA of a vehicle.

"Mercedes will have to play the Ferrari game", said Brundle.

Red Bull have won the race three times, Ferrari and Mercedes twice each.

Hamilton now leads the drivers' championship with 238 points, just three ahead of his German counterpart Vettel after 13 rounds.

Has Singapore always been bad for Mercedes?

Singapore Grand Prix: Can Vettel regain lead in title race?

"Toward the end of the race here, it is more likely that you make a mistake", Bottas said.

But perhaps more impressive was the 33.1% who said Sebastian Vettel would come home third at Monza after starting sixth on the grid following that insane wet qualifying. They won again with Nico Rosberg previous year.

Then there was 2015. Race day was little better as one vehicle finished fourth while the other retired.

"(It's) one of our best chances of a win in the second half of the season", said the Australian, who won in Azerbaijan and lies fourth in the standings.

Can Mercedes win this year?

"Red Bull seem like they're very strong. but nothing is out of reach".

When any team is competing for the championship, the relationship between their two drivers is always a point of contention and with Red Bull potentially leaning towards the young Dutchman, Ricciardo could soon be driving elsewhere.

Britain's most successful Formula One team have failed to win a race since 2012 and are a long way from challenging Mercedes, Ferrari or Red Bull.

Formula One is back under the lights in Singapore this weekend.
