Instagram lets you Archive and Highlight your favorite expired Stories

Instagram lets you Archive and Highlight your favorite expired Stories

Users can look back through the archive whenever they want, re-post an old Story to their current Story, or share an old Story as a new post in their feed so that it ends up on the grid. You'll find Stories Highlights on your profile below the biography.

The first new feature is a Story Archive. Though we did have the option to pick and choose which stories to download (and still do), this will make it easier and not something that you have to moderate yourself. Oh and these play out like a story when people tap on them.

Stories Archive and Stories Highlights are two new features that are available on Instagram.

To create a highlight, tap the circular "new" icon under your main profile picture.

The other significant update was Story Highlight, which allows the user to show their favorite archived stories on their profile.

With Stories Archive, all Instagram Stories are automatically saved into a private archive.

The Stories Archive enables the second big feature Instagram announced today: Instagram Highlights.

Like your Instagram Story? Now you can save it to your profile.

"As more and more people adopt Stories, we realized that the profile has become less and less representative of you and your life" an Instagram spokesperson tells me. Archive provides users with a private space to save and reshare their favourite stories (even after they expire) and Highlights is a new part of the user profile screen that lets you group and feature stories you've shared in the past. Then, when anybody feels like visiting the user's profile, they would see all the series as one Story under the tag name provided by the user.

Both features are now live.

The change is created to help you 'hold on to your favourite moments, ' according to Instagram, and is available today for iOS and Android.

Each Stories Highlight can be edited and removed by the user.

Thank goodness, because this is what Instagram Stories didn't have that Snapchat does.

Whereas before you had to manually save your Stories so you won't lose them after 24 hours, now you can just let Instagram do all the work.

While it may seem a little weird to have two new features centered around making stories last longer, that's exactly what Archive and Highlights do. In another move to copy the app, Insta has yet again taken a prominent feature and capitalized on it in their latest update. That meant it could feel like you were spamming friends if you wanted to share niche content, deterring content creation.
