Detective Pikachu amiibo and game announced for North America

Thus far, there's been one game in the sub-series, which was the Japan-exclusive Detective Pikachu - Birth of a New Duo for the 3DS. Today, we've learned that Pikachu has not only learned to speak fluent Japanese, but English as well as he and his partner Tim Goodman are headed to the western world in March, complete with a giant amiibo.

There's been a lot of buzz surrounding the upcoming Detective Pikachu movie, but today we're learning that those of us in the west will soon have a video game to go along with it. Nintendo revealed today that Detective Pikachu will soon make his way to the United States in a new video game for the 3DS. That Pikachu could prove vital to cracking the case, as he claims to have worked with Tim's father in the past. Look for clues, talk to witnesses, and uncover the secrets of Ryme City! Nintendo says about the Detective Pikachu amiibo: "A talking Pikachu who Tim meets in Ryme City".

A special Detective Pikachu amiibo is also planned for when the game launches. It has a little raised bump that highlight's Pikachu's snout.

The game also features an Easy Mode, where the title character will provide handy hints on what to do or where to go next. It's larger than a regular amiibo, and it allows players to view all the Pika Prompts (short video clips) from chapters they have completed, including ones they missed finding earlier. Finally, a Pikachu-themed New 2DS XL will come to the West on January 26, priced at $160 / £140. Are you excited to play Detective Pikachu this March? The corresponding amiibo arrives the same day, for $29.99 or the regional equivalent.
