Red Dead Redemption 2 release date leaked

The Danish webshop Coolshop has displayed correct release dates of other titles in the past, including Grand Theft Auto V's November 2014 date.

The release date was spotted by Red Dead News on Twitter yesterday, and the subsequent reaction from the Internet caused Coolshop to quietly replace the original release date witwh a nondescript 2018 placeholder.

Red Dead Redemption 2's release date may have been leaked, with a retailer posting its listing for the upcoming Western game including a launch date of June 8th, 2018. Oftentimes retailers put up release dates for games so that they can start collecting pre-orders, and in the case of Red Dead Redemption 2 there is sure to be a lot of money made on pre-orders.

Previously Rockstar Games released a new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2.

On the positive side, there are several factors that suggest the release date could be real. Most fans thought that Red Dead 2 will be released sooner than June. Alas, should Coolshop be right about the release date yet again, all it means is that the dev team will spend a few more weeks polishing the game - and that's not a bad thing. Usually games developed by Rockstar are out on Tuesdays and June 8 falls on a Friday. June would be far too late to make that window and is a financial risk no matter how strong the brand may be. However, an online retailer in Denmark may have just spilled the beans.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to 2010's Red Dead Redemption and will follow the outlaw Arthur Morgan, a part of the Van der Linde gang. At the time this leak was considered to be just another one of those seemingly random placeholders, until Rockstar's official announcement confirmed the date.
