Embiid and JJ Redick watched from the bench, Ben Simmons had a scoreless first half and the Philadelphia 76ers still won their 16th consecutive game, thumping the Milwaukee Bucks 130-95 Wednesday night to clinch the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Embiid believes there are very specific advantages to wearing a black mask vs. a clear mask, and he told reporters he is going to petition the league to wear his in the playoffs, whenever he decides to return.
"It's not something that I deem to be, here we are, we've arrived, significant-type status", coach Brett Brown said.
Embiid, who entertained the crowd during timeouts, hasn't played since March 28 when he suffered a broken bone around his left eye in a collision with Fultz. Philadelphia and Miami split their season series 2-2 with the Sixers winning the first two and the Heat winning the last two.
"I wouldn't want to play these guys in the first round with them having home-court", Carlisle said. "Hopefully, it gets approved and I get to play in it".
Embiid said he will likely miss the first game of the playoffs this weekend but hopes to be back soon.
Embiid lobbied for his black mask.
"If you look at the numbers, you will see", he said.
James had never played every game in his first 14 National Basketball Association seasons. Actually, I wouldn't say that because I don't think I'm ready to play, because it still doesn't feel all the way right. Embiid said he deserved to win National Basketball Association defensive player of the year, Simmons should be rookie of the year and Brown for coach of the year. Some of that was schedule-aided, but they were the only team that ranked in the top five in both offensive and defensive efficiency after the All-Star break. The Heat held them to just 101 points per 100 possessions in their four meetings, but the Sixers, who led the league in passes per possession and ranked second in player movement, have since become more hard to defend.
"If (they) have a shirt made of this dunk already then your the (goat emoji)", added Mitchell, who played his sophomore season at Louisville while Simmons was immersed in an National Basketball Association culture previous year.
