David de Gea: 'This has been my best season at Old Trafford'

David de Gea has named the 2017-18 season as his best at Manchester United after being awarded an array of personal honours over the past month.

And a third blank in their last five league games for United means champions Manchester City can seal another record by winning the league by at least 19 points if they win at Southampton tomorrow.

The Spaniard has been fantastic in goal for Manchester United this season making clear-cut saves and rising on several occasions to become the fifth defender for Manchester United's defense when the chips are down.

And yet Jose Mourinho's side have been getting heavily criticised all season.

The goalless draw at the London Stadium secured Manchester United second place in the Premier League this season.

Manchester United's David De Gea won his first Premier League golden glove after recording 18 clean sheets during the season.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, United has been very up and down, and on occasion, turned in some very awful single game performances.

'But the Golden Glove is about the team and not about somebody analysing the goalkeeper, and deciding this is the best goalkeeper of the Premier League. "It feels good, it is my first Golden Glove award", De Gea told MUTV after the game.

Amazingly, De Gea, who joined the Red Devils back in 2011, has never won the Golden Glove before. "I am really happy for that".

"And that's the most important thing, to help the team in every way you can and to maintain that level of consistency which I believe is what makes the difference".

Manchester City's Ederson finished in second spot with 16 clean sheets in his first season in England.

Mourinho did reserve praise for de Gea, calling his shutout award a "great team achievement".

De Gea continued: "It's always good to be able to help out the team, and to try and be at your highest level of form possible to be able to earn points for the team".
