Richie Incognito taken to mental health facility in Florida

Per TMZ Sports, the National Football League offensive lineman was accused of throwing a dumbbell at a man, and police officers placed him on an involuntary psychiatric hold for a mental evaluation.

"The alleged victim says Incognito was rambling about the government and screaming at the man to 'get off my (expletive) playground'". Incognito used the social-media platform in April to announce his retirement, and he followed that up by telling a Buffalo newspaper, "My liver and kidneys are shutting down".

O'Brien called 911 and in a recording released Thursday a voice identified as Incognito's can be heard in the background yelling and cursing at him. Jacksonville defensive end Yannick Ngakoue claimed Incognito had hurled some "weak racist slurs" at him, but the latter subsequently claimed they "hugged it out" while at the Pro Bowl.

Richie Incognito was taken to a mental health facility in Boca Raton, Fla. on Wednesday following an incident at a gym.

Police responded to the incident when the man allegedly targeted by Incognito called 911. When told he could potentially be a danger to others, Incognito asked a woman in the nearby pool to call the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to the report.

The officers who were responding to the incident met with Incognito in the outdoor pool area, according to the report, and Incognito told them, "There's a guy walking around with head phones on".

I have criticized Incognito repeatedly in the past, but I truly hope he gets the help he needs.

Incognito was previously put on involuntary psychiatric hold in 2014 after he was reportedly on the verge of a breakdown following the Jonathan Martin bullying scandal, according to TMZ.

When police approached Incognito, he told them he was training when he felt like he was being watched.

And when he said he wanted to come back, the Buffalo Bills released Incognito from the reserve/retired list making the 34 year old a free agent.

In his 11 seasons in the NFL, Incognito has played with three NFL teams including two stints with the Bills.

He, however, had a change of heart weeks later when Incognito abruptly fired agent David Dunn in a post on Twitter.

Just a month beforehand, Incognito and his team had agreed to a renegotiated contract.
