Arabs Pressure Abbas to Accept Trump's 'Deal of the Century'

It said the administration of US President Donald Trump will publish the deal depending on developments on the ground in the region.

Saudi Arabia is said to have offered Abbas the money needed for the PA to improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip in return for him accepting Trump's deal.

Palestinian officials, who want East Jerusalem as the capital of a future state, accused Kushner of trying to undermine Abbas and what they described as their leader's moderate camp.

A Palestinian man inspects a destroyed auto after an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City, which the Israeli military says it destroyed because it belonged to a leader of the incendiary kite and balloon attacks on southern Israel, on June 17, 2018. MORE said Sunday that the Trump administration's plan to broker peace between Israelis and Palestinians will be published soon. "We have said from the beginning that there is no path to peace without finding a solution for Gaza".

Ahead of William's arrival, the official schedule's reference to east Jerusalem as "in the Occupied Palestinian Territories" sparked particular anger among some right-wing Israeli politicians.

He will also visit the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem and pay tribute at the tomb of his great-grandmother, Princess Alice of Greece, who has been honoured by Israel for sheltering Jews during World War II.

He went on to speculate that Abbas has referred to the administration's trip to the region as a "waste of time" indicates Palestinian leadership is concerned the people may approve of his deal, but said he remains open to a meeting with Abbas. "He has his talking points which have not changed in the last 25 years", he added.

Senior Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat accused Kushner and Greenblatt on Saturday of trying to topple the Abbas-led West Bank autonomy government and dismantle the United Nations aid agency for Palestinian refugees.

The White House has sought to tamp down reports that the plan is heavily pro-Israeli or that it will seek to divide Gaza from the West Bank.

On Friday, a few thousand Palestinians took part in clashes along the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel for a thirteenth consecutive week, with the Gaza health ministry reporting 2,016 injured.

Other members of William's family - including his father Prince Charles - have made unofficial visits to Israel and east Jerusalem in the past.

While the details of the so-called deal of the century have not officially been released, leaks have suggested that the Palestinians would initially control the Gaza Strip and less than half of the occupied West Bank, while a Palestinian capital would be created from villages surrounding Jerusalem.

The Islamic militant group Hamas that rules Gaza has led three months of protests that turned violent.

The Palestinians have been infuriated by Trump's policies and see east Jerusalem as their future capital, insisting the status of the disputed city is an issue to be negotiated between them and the Israelis.

"The Arab countries made it clear that their position remains clear, namely that a two-state solution should be based on worldwide resolutions [pertaining to the Israeli-Arab conflict]", he added.
