First Lady Melania Trump makes trip to visit border detention facilities

She re-donned the jacket and wore it when she deplaned back at Andrews Air Force Base despite the media storm that had erupted over her initial wearing. A moment where the First Lady can actually do something that none of the rest of us can. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!

Since becoming first lady, Trump has said she wants to champion helping children, yet has been for the most part vague about how exactly she intends to accomplish her goal. He says staff have "a tremendous passion for working with these children" and the center is "their home".

If neither of those options are possible, which is the case in about 10% of the unaccompanied children, then they are placed with vetted foster families or volunteers.

She first appeared at the New Hope Children's Shelter, an HHS grantee facility run by Lutheran Social Services to care for the children.

The reporters in the press pool that accompanied her apparently didn't see it; photographers did notice it and brought it up with Grisham later during the surprise visit to McAllen, Texas, to meet children separated from their parents at the Texas border with Mexico.

Despite Trump's executive order on ending family separations, there was no immediate plan in place to reunite the more than 2,300 children already separated from their families.

"It's a jacket. There was no hidden message".

At the second 2016 presidential debate, Mrs. Trump showed up in a fuchsia silk blouse with a large bow at the neck, long known as a "pussy bow blouse". After today's important visit to Texas, I hope the media isn't going to choose to focus on her wardrobe.

When asked whether the first lady had seen the images of detained children, Grisham said she had. Back at the White House, President Donald Trump seemed to contradict the first lady's spokesperson by saying the jacket was indeed meant to send a message - to the media. She was told twice a week, but the official noted that there is a process to verify that the persons they are communicating with are their families.

Grisham had earlier bashed the media for paying so much attention to Melania Trump's sartorial choices.

More than 2000 children have been separated from their parents at the border in the past six weeks, and distressing images and audio have emerged of youngsters crying for their mothers and fathers. She told children to "be kind and nice to each other" as she left another classroom.

Mrs. Trump, whose focus as first lady is on child well-being, appears to have been among those pushing him to act.
