Over the weekend, the duchess appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with the rest of the royal family for Trooping the Colour, marking the Queen's official 92nd birthday.

"She was not as prominent perhaps as some people might have expected, but there's a pecking order", Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty magazine, tells PEOPLE. This official wedding photograph released by Britain's Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shows them in The Green Drawing Room, Windsor Castle, with (left-to-right): Back row: Master Brian Mulroney, Miss Remi Litt, Miss Rylan Litt, Master Jasper Dyer, Prince George, Miss Ivy Mulroney, Master John Mulroney.

However, a palace source reckons the former Suits star wouldn't have been given instructions on where to stand on the day, and likely made the decision herself.

Meghan Markle stood a little behind Kate Middleton. "And there were a lot of kids who everyone would want at the front". The couple recently returned from their honeymoon after tying the knot on May 19.

The Duchess looked absolutely gorgeous in her bespoke Carolina Herrera dress and matching Philip Treacy hat.

McCartney, who created the second wedding dress for Ms Markle, now the Duchess of Sussex, said she was "very proud" to have worked with the bride to tread the "delicate line" of appropriate attire. That means that if or when Prince William ascends to the throne, and Kate becomes queen consort, Meghan will have to curtsy to her.

While there's a deeper implication to the remark - which suggests that joining the royal family lacks "joy" - the internet is focused on having a field day with McCartney's reference to the duchess's "human" side.

And Meghan was all smiles as she took in the historic annual event.
