At one point, she was seen being held as they waited for police. The shop was closed for the day and Johnson encouraged viewers of the video to continue protesting and boycotting the business. Thomas says that when she refused to pay for the eyebrow job that she thought was done poorly, an argument ensued and escalated.

A skirmish ensued, in which one of the women swung her arms in the employees' direction before she was hit with brooms, leading to a chaotic scene inside the nail salon.

Thomas faces charges of misdemeanor assault, misdemeanor menacing and harassment, police said. It's hard to tell who instigated the violence, but it appears to be the workers at the nail salon who are dealing the most force.

Sandwiched in between a West Indian grocery store and a sneaker store, New Red Apple Nails is located on the edge of East Flatbush, a working-class neighbourhood in Brooklyn. "She said she didn't like it and doesn't want to pay for nothing", Lin said. All you have to do is say "I'm sorry" and keep it going.

"You couldn't pay me to come back here", said resident Crystal Harper. "No eyebrow, no problem'".

News 12 is told that Thomas was at the salon with her granddaughter getting a manicure, pedicure and eyebrow wax. "He said 'I'll fix it, ' she said, 'you can't fix it'".

A demonstrator chucked a beer bottle at a police officer during a protest outside the nail salon where a "racially charged" melee took place, cops said Tuesday. The incident was reported in the 1400 block of Nostrand Avenue on Friday night. Police escorted workers out of the establishment for their safety, the Post reports.

Almost 100 demonstrators marched and chanted, "Shut them down!" and "No money!" They also claim one protester screamed, "where is ICE?"

"You don't got no respect for this community, then you don't get no money in this community".

A video posted to Facebook by Mercy Maduka purports to show Zheng beating Thomas and another person with a broomstick, according to Pix11.

The ordeal has also sparked protests against the nail salon.
