Canadian police say at least 4 dead in shooting

Witnesses described to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation seeing the barrel of a rifle or shotgun poking out from the window of a low-rise apartment and shots being fired into its courtyard.

Gunfire sounded in the complex on a suburb north of the river.

One resident told CBC News that he heard a series of shots ring out around 7 am. I have an oxygen machine going and an air conditioner going.

"Not enough can be said about the courageous efforts shown today and everyday by members of the Fredericton Police Force, the first responders involved, and all those who respond to the call for help".

"He said the street was all blocked off with cops. We're following the situation closely". "It's starting to sink in. Now we're becoming the story that nobody wants to hear".

About five minutes later, he could hear similar noises near his home.

Police in Fredericton are asking anyone with photos or video footage of the fatal shooting in Fredericton to come forward.

Yesterday police said: "Of the four people killed.two were Fredericton Police officers". The suspect, who has not been identified, was being treated for serious injuries. "It's a little off-putting that way, and I've been here for about a year".

There has been a shooting in Fredericton, New Brunswick resulting in at least four deaths. She said she heard a "crack, crack, crack, four in a row" in rapid succession.

Police say they have one suspect in custody.

Klepick said her first thoughts were of her husband and two teenage sons.
