Mets reassign Tebow to minor league camp

The New York Mets have made a spring training decision on Tebow, sending him to the minor league camp.

The Heisman Trophy victor is expected to begin the season with Triple-A Syracuse.

Tim Tebow may still someday play in the major leagues.

"Last year just at the start was so disappointing, Day 1 getting injured, and then it's like an uphill battle the whole time, just very frustrating", he said, via MLB.com.

Tebow, who despite the reassignment, can still be used in big league exhibition games in Florida, is 4-for-15 this spring. "But we have a lot of great coaches here", said Tebow to reporters, including Tim Healey of Newsday, when asked about Canseco's offer Tuesday. "You've been around here, you've seen that". Tebow was a Double-A All-Star last season with the Binghapton Rumble Ponies, batting.276 with six home runs and 36 RBIs. "That's just my goal and we're going to give it as good a shot as we can", he continued.

In other moves Tuesday, the Mets optioned pitchers Paul Sewald and Jacob Rhame to their minor league camp and reassigned pitcher Arquimedes Caminero, outfielder Rymer Liriano, catcher Ali Sanchez and infielders Andres Gimenez and Dilson Herrera.
